From Yuri in Mykolayiv comes this photo of the Maidan Nezalezhnosti, the city's major square and a favorite gathering place, which was rebuilt with this monument in 2001 to symbolize Ukraine's tenth year of independence.
There's an abundance of wonderful restaurants in Kyiv. Hostynyy Dvir serves traditional Ukrainian cuisine with great evening entertainment.
Andriyivvsky Uzviz, with its many art galleries, is Kyiv's most popular tourist walk. At the head of the street is St. Andrew Church. The interior has been restored and is now open to visitors.
The National Historical Museum of Ukraine at the top of Volodymyrska hill has a wealth of exhibits starting from prehistoric times.
The Trinity Gate Church is the entrance to the Pecherska Lavra, or Monastery of the Caves.
The Dormition Church was the only structure at the Monastery of the Caves destroyed in WWII. It is now completely rebuilt.
